Rosary Service
Everyone is welcome to come to our weekly Rosary service on Saturdays at 8 AM. This tradition started when, in 1995, two parishioners (Marcy Hesse and Janet Johnston) met at St. Stephen's and discovered that each had been praying the Rosary privately for many years. Their discussions led them to begin a Rosary prayer group during Lent, 1996. Praying the Rosary on Saturday morning is a wonderful way to begin the weekend with some quiet and contemplative time.
We pray the traditional Marian rosary in the Nave of the church. Over the years, we have developed a variety of prayers which are prayed at various times of the years including: Luminous Mysteries, Peace Mysteries, Healing Mysteries, Miracles, and the traditional Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. For us, praying the Rosary is both a ministry and a gift. Those who pray with the group regularly - or occasionally -- say that they are drawn to pray the Rosary because of the richness and power of the prayers and feel strengthened by the group's prayer and meditation. We include intercessory prayers and find praying for so many others a form of quiet service.
After Rosary, we always enjoy "coffee and conversation" in the Gathering Space. On any given morning, we might launch into a discussion of the Divine Feminine, critique a new movie, or volunteer to fold and stuff service bulletins -- we never know where the spirit will lead us!
