Dr. Phillip Kloeckner, Organist and Interim Music Director
Organist and Interim Music Director. Phillip accompanies the St. Stephen's Choir and Family Choir, and plays for many of the liturgies throughout the year. He is also Director of the St. Stephen's Choristers, a youth choir program.

Dr. Phillip Kloeckner became organist at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Houston in September, 2007, after completing almost eighteen years as Organist and Director of Music at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson, Texas, where he developed an esteemed choral music program and was the founding artistic director for Saint Timothy's Arts and Recital Series (S.T.A.R.S.). In August, 2008, he was named Interim Director of Music at St. Stephen's.
Dr. Kloeckner has extensive experience in all aspects of sacred music gained from synagogue and church positions in various denominations in Vermont, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. A member of the Music Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas for more than eighteen years and a member of several committees for the Houston Chapter of the American Guild of Organists during the past decade, he is on the faculty of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where he teaches a wide variety of courses that include applied organ, music theory, ear training, keyboard skills, figured bass and continuo realization, score reading, and church music.
